March 27, 2009 (Santa Monica, Calif.) – Just opened, the new Sea Wellness Spa is set to redefine Hotel Casa del Mar as one of the leading spa and wellness retreats at its seaside location in Santa Monica, Calif. Both refreshing and relaxing, this new destination incorporates eco-friendly design, revitalizing and health-benefiting spa treatments, and a variety of fitness programs for mind and body. The completion of the Sea Wellness Spa is the final element of Hotel Casa del Mar's new innovative "Wellness Your Way" program.

As travelers have historically visited the ocean for its healing benefits, the new Sea Wellness Spa centers its signature treatments around the ocean-based Voya Organic Seaweed products, which are exclusive to Casa del Mar in the Southern California area. Guests can experience Voya's 100% certified organic "Seaweed Leaf Body Wrap" to fight the signs of cellulite, revitalize skin condition, relax tired and lethargic muscles, and relieve stress and fatigue. The "Sea Mermaid Facial" utilizes Voya's combination of an anti-oxidant algae complex and restorative pro-collagen extracts to fight the signs of visible aging, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and hydrate and plump the skin. The "Touch of the Sea Massage" offers an organic, full body aromatherapy massage as the ultimate stress reliever while the Voya organic seaweed oil smoothes and softens the skin. All seaweed is harvested by hand from the ocean to ensure the highest content of bio-actives.

Designed by Rachel Winokur of Etta Designs, formerly of Michael S. Smith Inc., the new Sea Wellness Spa speaks to the elegant comfort of the hotel while featuring the best in eco-luxury. The intimate space offers four treatment rooms, one couples room, a yoga studio and fitness room, and a private hypnotherapy room. The relaxation room mimics the landscape of the beach with rich textures, sea and sky hues towards the horizon, and warm gold and yellow tones conveying a sand-like floor. The materials are natural and sustainable with sea tiles made of natural shells and responsibly harvested bamboo lining the walls.

Looking to local experts, Sea Wellness Spa offers an inventive á la carte menu of programs focusing on mental and physical wellness and resilience. Options range from private hypnosis sessions to tips from master Pilates instructor and lifestyle coach Mary Harris on optimal body positioning and posture (in person or via ipod shuffle). The private yoga and fitness studio is equipped with Kinesis by Technogym, which helps guests exercise through a pivoted pulley system that targets muscles synergistically and builds strength, flexibility, coordination, posture control and breath control. Additional wellness programs are created in collaboration with Moonview Sanctuary, a Santa Monica-based non-residential treatment and optimal performance center. Casa's Wellness Director Amber McMahon initiates the Moonview Sanctuary experience with a consultation pre-arrival to help guests navigate the wellness opportunities that await them by the sea.
